MINUTES JOINT SENATE AND HOUSE FINANCE COMMITTEE February 10, 1994 8:45 a.m. TAPES HFC 94-30, Side 1, #000 - 41. CALL TO ORDER Representative Ron Larson, Co-Chair, convened the meeting at 8:45 a.m. PRESENT The following Senate and House Finance members were present: SENATE FINANCE HOUSE FINANCE Co-Chair Frank Co-Chair Larson Co-Chair Pearce Co-Chair MacLean Senator Jacko Representative Brown Senator Reiger Representative Navarre Senator Sharp Representative Foster Representative Grussendorf Representative Parnell (Senators Kelly and Kerttula and Representatives Therriault, Martin, Hoffman and Hanley were not present for the meeting). ALSO PRESENT Senator Loren Leman; Representative Gail Phillips; Representative David Finkelstein; Representative Cliff Davidson; Representative Bill Williams;Bruce Botelho, Attorney General, Department of Law; James Baldwin, Assistant Attorney General, Department of Law; Elizabeth L. Shaw, Acting Deputy Attorney General, Department of Law; Nancy Gordon, Assistant Attorney General, Department of Law; Sen Tan, Assistant Attorney General, Department of Law; Joan Kasson, Special Assistant, Department of Law; Darrel J. Rexwinkel, Commissioner, Department of Revenue; Larry E. Meyers, Director, Income and Excise Audit Division, Department of Revenue; John E. Pikinton, Director, Oil and Gas Audit Division, Department of Revenue. 1 SUMMARY INFORMATION EXECUTIVE HEARING SESSION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF LAW REGARDING OIL LITIGATION EXECUTIVE SESSION Co-Chair Frank MOVED that the Committee meet in executive session for the purpose of a presentation by the Department of Law and the Department of Revenue regarding on going oil and gas litigation. JIM BALDWIN, ASSISTANT ATTORNEY GENERAL, DEPARTMENT OF LAW expounded on the necessity of keeping confidential information regarding attorney/client privileges. He added that information provided to the members could affect the finances of the State. Co-Chair Larson reiterated that the Committees would meet in executive session, as provided by law, since information to be discussed could affect the fiances the State of Alaska. There being NO OBJECTION, the Committee met in Executive Session from 8:45 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. Those attending signed a confidentiality agreement (Attachment 1). ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 10:10 a.m. 2
